Business Intelligence for HR – the value of analysis

Cezanne Software has designed a new HR analytics module that provides HR-related business intelligence functionality to help drive strategic decisions and maximise return on investment in HR technology

Traditionally, the implementation and set up of the metrics and analysis techniques needed to drive business intelligence applications has required significant investment. Used by administrators and top managers to access high level information and analysis about specific business issues - initially financial - these tools are increasingly being used to analyze trends in performance, generate forecasts and to model different market scenarios and strategies.

As a result, the HR function is under increasing pressure to provide up-to-date and easy-to-use information that can be used to support strategic decisions. HR directors and managers need executive dashboards and tools that will help them to analyse and manage the performance of their people.

Using our extensive experience of delivering Human Capital Management solutions, Cezanne Software has developed HR Analytics, a new business intelligence tool for human resources specifically designed for companies that want to adopt decision support tools.

Cezanne HR Analytics provides an environment for building focused HR dashboards enabling the analysis of key performance indicators against forecast or actual data. The tool collects and processes HR data, graphically displaying the information in dashboards that bring together a set of different indicators that are related to data from every organizational level, from the entire employee population to a single individual. This data may include dozens of variables, from absences relating to holidays or illness to lateness, turnover, overtime, training, performance and contract types. Managers can now see in one place key information from many different areas, and look at their HR data in a powerful new light.

For example, the analysis of related data about recruitment, training, performance and incentives provides detailed information on the factors that need to be addressed in order to reduce turnover and control personnel cost.

These variables are represented graphically, through diagrams, graphs and counters, providing decision-makers with a high level view of the organization and of KPIs relating to human capital across the company.

Cezanne Software’s approach is to develop uniquely flexible tools that can be configured to meet the unique requirements of each organization. Cezanne HR Analytics can be used to manage and report on information, even if the data is saved in third party HR systems, in order to support business decisions and optimise and improve HR management.

The new features of Cezanne HR Analytics have already been successfully tested by one of Cezanne Software’s customers - a leading US-headquartered multinational supplier of HR services and temporary workers. The project, implemented for the Italian branch of the company, provides a high level view of key KPIs (including number of employees, turnover, absences, etc.) that are displayed using a variety of different graphical formats.

Cezanne Software in now working to create a standard business intelligence model for human resource management. This will provide companies with an ‘out of the box’ solution that can be quickly and easily implemented. Like all Cezanne Software solutions, the new HR Analytics module is designed to integrate with the core enterprise systems, support complex organization structures and allow for customization to meet specific customer needs.
